Tonight, supernatural drama The Messengers premieres on the CW. The series is about a group of humans with recently acquired powers, a la Heroes, and a mysterious character known as The Man who is trying to use them for his own evil purposes. It’s the network’s second drama to launch this spring. The first, iZombie, got the plumb Tuesday 9PM timeslot, following the CW’s biggest hit, The Flash. The Messengers has been relegated to Fridays, where the CW sends shows to be burned off before being devoured by the Cancellation Bear. That speaks volumes about which series the network believes has more potential. However, The Messengers may have what it takes to build a Friday audience, given that ratings expectations are lower for the night. Its lead-in, Whose Line Is It Anyway, is a sstrong Friday performer. Reviews have been fairly positive, even The New York Times. Since Grimm has moved to 8PM, it will be the only genre show in the 9PM time slot. iZombie premiered to a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating. When Hart of Dixie moved to Friday at 9PM last spring, it earned a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating. How do you think The Messengers will fare?
