Though it was never in doubt, the contract negotiation issues with the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore have been resolved and MTV has renewed the series for a second season of 12 episodes.  If reports that the cast was requesting $10,000 per episode per cast member were true, that’s a bargain based on the show’s ratings that currently make it MTV’s highest-rated reality show.

According to James Hibberd the second season of 12 episodes will air this summer, meaning that production for the episodes will get underway soon.

“Our audience has fallen in love with ‘Jersey Shore’ and its amazing cast who have really grown together as a family. That bond gives the show its heart, and we’re thrilled to reunite these friends to bring fans more of what they love — laughs, love, drama and of course, GTL [gym, tanning, laundry],” said Tony DiSanto, president of programming for MTV.
