Update 8pm PDT, August 23, 2009: with Ryan Jenkins’ death by apparent suicide in Canada, VH1 has decided to cancel I Love Money 3 as well.

Update 5pm PDT, August 24, 2009 nothing new from the update above, but VH1 has updated its official statement on its blog to include I Love Money 3 cancellation.

We do a lot of  posts about show renewals and cancellations, but I wouldn’t have bet that Megan Wants a Millionaire would’ve been one we’d ever write about.

The other day I posted that VH1 had pulled Megan off the air because Ryan Jenkins who has now been charged in the gruesome murder of  Jasmine Fiore.   On Friday, VH1 updated that saying the show has been canceled.

What’s not yet clear is the fate of I Love Money 3, another reality show that airs on VH1, where Jenkins also participated as a contestant.  I Love Money 3 was originally slated to air beginning in January.  51 Minds, the production company for both shows would not confirm reports that Jenkins was the winner of I Love Money 3.

Brian Stelter has a great write up in Saturday’s New York Times that covers all the details and also gives  focus to the casting practices of reality television shows.
