According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day ratings data, Hawthorne delivered 3.83 million viewers in the 9 p.m. time slot, of which 1.64 million were members of the adults 25-54 demo. The premiere also served up 1.57 million viewers 18-49.

Leading out of Hawthorne at 10 p.m., TNT’s third-season franchise Saving Grace held on to 91 percent of the previous hour’s audience, drawing 3.47 million viewers. While the Saving Grace premiere out-delivered its season-two average by 4 percent, the third season opener fell 33 percent from its July 14, 2008, sophomore season launch, which drew 5.16 million viewers.
