The season 9 premiere of the Discovery Channel’s “Gold Rush” scored second place in the Friday cable ratings last week with a 0.6 in adults 18-49, down a tenth from its premiere last year. But it was the MLB playoffs that took the no. 1 spot of the night yet again, as Fox Sports’ broadcast of the first league championship series game between the Dodgers and the Brewers posted a 1.1 and 4.64 million viewers.
A&E’s “Live PD” rounded out the top 3, despite ticking down from the 0.6 it had scored last Friday to a 0.5 this time around. Meanwhile, ESPN’s broadcast of the NCAA football game between South Florida and Tulsa scored a 0.3, as did ESPN2’s broadcast of the Lakers vs. Golden State NBA pre-season game.
On HBO, “Real Time with Bill Maher” was steady with a 0.3 for the second week in a row.
