Monday cable ratings: Home Run Derby soars, ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ rises

The majority of the Monday cable ratings stood in the shadow of the Home Run Derby.

ESPN’s broadcast of the event brought in a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49, demolishing any competition the night presented. That being said, it did not tower over the rest of the chart quite the way it did last year, when the broadcast stood at a massive 2.6. The “Home Run Derby Prelude” on the same channel was a force to be reckoned with in its own right, scoring its own 1.0, though this was also down from last year’s 1.2. Finally, in the third slot, “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” had a strong night on VH1, rising from 0.7 to 0.9.

Beyond the chart’s uppermost slots, a broadcast of the MLB Celebrity Softball game managed to grab a 0.9, down from last year’s 1.4. USA’s “Monday Night RAW” spent a rare week outside the top 3 when it failed to match last week’s 0.8 and landed at 0.7. On Bravo, “Below Deck Mediterranean” was consistent at 0.6, while “90 Day Fiancé” fought its way back to 0.5 from 0.4 on TLC.

“Teen Mom” of MTV failed to match trajectories with “90 Day Fiancé” and remained trapped at the 0.4 it previously fell to, landing beside the premiere of “Scream” on VH1. For the latter series, this was a much stronger showing than its premiere last year at 0.2. Over at TBS, “American Dad” continued with a 0.3, sharing company with Adult Swim’s “Final Space” (up from 0.2) and Discovery Channel’s “Fast N’ Loud.”

“The Hills: New Beginnings” brought MTV another 0.3, while both “House Hunters” and “House Hunters International” came in at 0.2 yet again. On TLC, “Kate Plus Date” was yet another recurring member of the 0.2 club.
