“Game of Thrones” went out as many expected it would, by breaking several of its own ratings records.
The “Thrones” series finale was the show’s highest-rated in history with a 5.8 rating in adults 18-49, beating the previous 5.7 ratings high that its season 7 finale held. With its initial broadcast as well, the series finale episode raked in 13.61 million viewers – its largest linear audience ever, surpassing the now second-best 12.48 million viewers that its penultimate episode scored the previous week.
With replays and streaming figures factored in, the “Thrones” finale grew to a 19.3 million viewer audience, which marks yet another new high for the hit series. It is also HBO’s most-watched broadcast ever, and gives the six-episode “Thrones” final season a total of five of the series’ most-watched episodes.
Also on HBO, the season 2 finale of “Barry” ticked back up from its penultimate episode’s 0.8 to a 0.9, tying its previous series high in the demo, while “Last Week Tonight” followed with a 0.6. However, it was TNT’s broadcast of the Bucks vs. Raptors NBA conference final game that took the night’s no. 2 spot, with a 2.1 rating and 6.16 million viewers.
Outside of the top 25, its simulcast on BBC America and AMC gave “Killing Eve” a combined 0.3 rating with 1.08 million viewers, back up from its previous episode’s 0.2 and 1.02 million viewers.
