Thursday cable ratings: ‘Dr. Pimple Popper’ battles ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ to stay on top

The struggle between “Dr. Pimple Popper” and “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” continued in the Thursday cable ratings this week, but ultimately it ended with “Dr. Pimple Popper” on top.

The TLC medical series was once again able to secure the no. 1 slot by holding onto its 0.5 rating in adults 18-49. This was enough to keep it abreast of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” by a narrow margin whilst the MTV show held its own consecutive 0.5. “The Real Housewives of New York City” found its way just below them, rising from 0.3 to 0.4 and bringing home the third place slot for Bravo.

Elsewhere, “Queen of the South” of USA maintained its usual 0.3, which allowed it to remain in front of “The Shadows of Death” on Investigation Discovery at the same score. History Channel’s “Mountain Men” was also at 0.3, lifting it above the 0.2 it came in at last week.

Chief among the 0.2’s was “Christina on the Coast,” as it stumbled from 0.3 to 0.2 on HGTV. Investigation Discovery’s “Primal Instinct” grabbed its own 0.2, where “Beat Bobby Flay” continued after falling there last week. On TLC, “Untold Stories of the E.R.” collapsed from 0.3 to 0.2, as did “Alone” on History. Recurring 0.2’s were also dealt by Food Network’s “Chopped,” Discovery’s “Ax Men,” WETV’s “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta,” and HGTV’s “House Hunters.”
