The CW kicked off its 2017-18 season Monday with unimpressive returns. “Supergirl” tied a series low in adults 18-49 with a 0.5 rating, and “Valor” debuted to a 0.3 — on par with “Jane the Virgin’s” average in the timeslot last season but below that show’s 0.4 premiere.

The Big 4 networks were down for the most part as well. “The Big Bang Theory” led the night with a 2.8 in the 18-49 demographic, pending updates (CBS had a “Monday Night Football” pre-emption in Minneapolis). That’s off 0.2 vs. last week. “9JKL” slipped a tenth of a point to 1.5, pending updates. “Kevin Can Wait” (1.4) is currently even with last week, while “Me, Myself & I” (1.1) and “Scorpion” (1.0) are each up a tenth.

“The Good Doctor” fell 0.3 for ABC but still turned in a solid 1.9 and continued to build significantly on “Dancing With the Stars” (1.3, -0.1). “The Gifted” (1.2) fell three tenths from its premiere on FOX, and “Lucifer” was down two tenths to 0.9.

At NBC, “The Voice” at 2.4 was off a tenth from last week’s preliminary ratings (it adjusted up in the finals). “The Brave” matched last week’s preliminary 1.2; it adjusted down in the finals.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
