Important to note that with this week’s Thursday’s primetime ratings: Local pre-emptions for NFL preseason games on affiliates of every network will cause some very noticeable downward adjustments in the finals. It’s possible and likely that the 18-49 rating for many shows will adjust down anywhere from 0.1 to 0.5.

Pending updates, CBS’ “Big Brother” returned to the top – after losing to football last week – with a 2.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.42 million viewers, up five-tenths from its previous 1.5. “The Gong Show” is currently up three-tenths with a 0.8 on ABC, as is “Match Game” (0.8), while “Take Two” is up four-tenths with a 0.8 as well.

Back-to-back installments of “Trial & Error” are currently sitting at 1.1 and 1.0 ratings for NBC, up seven and six-tenths from their last episodes. On The CW, reruns of “Supernatural and “Black Lightning” both posted 0.3s.

CBS led all of the other networks in both the adults 18-49 and total viewers races with 1.5 and 6.61 million overall averages. NBC and FOX tied for second in the demographic with the same 1.1 overall, while ABC came in third with a 0.9.

Network averages:

Adults 18-49 rating/share 1.5/7 1.1/5 1.1/5 0.9/5 0.3/1
Total Viewers (millions) 6.61 4.88 4.00 4.12 1.08

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
