The season finale of “How to Get Away with Murder” improved on last week’s episode, helping ABC to a small ratings bump.
“HTGAWM” scored a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49, up from 0.9 last week (but down from 1.4 for last year’s finale). “Grey’s Anatomy” was also up a tenth of a point at 1.8, while “Scandal” held steady at 1.1.
CBS led primetime with the opening night of its NCAA Tournament coverage. Pending updates, the network averaged 5.57 million viewers and 1.7 in adults 18-49, up from a preliminary 4.6 million and 1.3 last year.
“Will & Grace” (1.2) rose two tenths over last week’s finals, and “AP Bio” was up a tenth at 0.8. “Superstore” and “Champions” were both even with their final numbers a week ago.
FOX’s “Gotham” hit a series-low 0.6, and “Showtime at the Apollo” was steady, also at 0.6.

Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing: Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
