The numbers for Wednesday, which include the final “American Idol” performances and a lot of declines elsewhere on the broadcast networks:

“American Idol’s” final performance show of its FOX tenure scored improved ratings, grabbing a 2.2 in adults 18-49 — up a tenth from 2.1 for last week’s Thursday show. ABC’s “Nashville” (1.0) and The CW’s “Supernatural” (0.7) were also up a tenth, but that was it for week-to-week improvements on the night.
“Empire” still led the night by a huge margin, but its 4.2 rating was off 0.6 (12.5 percent) from last week. NBC’s “Heartbeat” (0.7) fell two tenths (22 percent). ABC’s “The Goldbergs” (1.8, -0.2 and), “Modern Family” (season and series low 2.2, -0.3) and “Black-ish” (1.6, -0.3) all declined as well.
At CBS, “Survivor” fell two tenths to 1.9, while both “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” episodes drew a 1.2, down a tenth from last week’s 10 p.m. installment. “Arrow” (0.8) also fell a tenth for The CW.

The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing: Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
