“Criminal Minds” scored a solid bump in the Wednesday primetime ratings.

The long-running CBS series rose to season highs in both the adults 18-49 demo (0.9 rating) and in total viewers (5.88 million) this week – up a bit from the 0.7 rating and 4.49 million viewer audience that its last episode scored. It benefitted from a stronger-than-usual lead-in, with the network’s “Super Bowl Greatest Commercials” special raking in a solid 1.0 rating with 7.15 million viewers at 8 p.m., making it the night’s highest-rated and most-watched primetime broadcast. A new “S.W.A.T.” won the night’s 10 p.m. hour for the network, with a 0.7 and 4.41 million viewers.

Elsewhere, “The Goldbergs” was ABC’s only primetime show to improve week-to-week, as it ticked up from its previous 0.8 to a 0.9. Its lead-out, “Schooled,” maintained its 0.7 rating from a week ago, while “Single Parents” (0.5) inched down a tenth from its last episode. A “Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan, and The Crown” special capped off the night for the network with a 0.5 rating and a 3.44 million viewer audience.

Meanwhile, FOX’s “Harry & Meghan: The Royals in Crisis” special held its own against ABC’s “Royal Divide,” as it matched the ABC special’s 0.5 rating, and raked in just a slightly smaller audience (3.31 million viewers).

On the CW, both “Riverdale” (0.2) and “Nancy Drew” (0.1) stayed even with their ratings from last Tuesday. The rest of the night’s broadcasts were all repeats.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
