ABC’s broadcast of the ESPY Awards took a hit in the ratings compared to last year. The show averaged a 1.6 rating in adults 18-49, down six tenths of a point from last year’s awards.
NBC led the night with “America’s Got Talent,” whose 2.3 rating was on par with Tuesday’s 2.4. “The Night Shift” (1.3) also scored a season high with help from its lead-in. “Big Brother” (1.7) and “Masterchef” (1.1) were both off 0.2 vs. last week, while “American Gothic” (0.5) fell a tenth. “Wayward Pines” (0.8) is currently even with last week’s fast nationals and up a tenth from its final number.

Time Shifted Viewing: Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
