Wednesday cable ratings: Nationals vs. Dodgers tops all, ‘American Horror Story: 1984’ holds

This week, the MLB had a commanding presence in the Wednesday cable ratings.

TBS took an easy overall win for the night with its broadcast of the match between the Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers, racking up a powerful 1.8 rating in adults 18-49. This was an entire 1.0 better than the 0.8 of the Cardinals vs. Braves game in second place on the same network, and 0.8 better than when the Tampa Bay Rays played the Oakland Athletics on ESPN last week. All of this meant that FX’s “American Horror Story: 1984” was relegated to third place, holding out at a 0.6 that would have been the top score if not for baseball.

Elsewhere, “Basketball Wives” on VH1 broke free from several weeks at 0.5 and ascended to 0.6. This kept it just ahead of Comedy Central’s “South Park,” which itself rebounded from 0.4 to the 0.6 it scored two weeks ago. On VH1, “Black Ink Crew” held steady at 0.5, while “All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite” on TNT crumbled from 0.7 to 0.5 in its second week. Meanwhile, MTV’s “The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2” maintained its recent gains, continuing at 0.5.

Further down, “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal” was consistent with the 0.3’s it’s posted the last few days, and “Black Ink Crew Compton” provided its own reliable 0.3 for VH1. “Guy’s Grocery Games” recovered from a rough week, rising from 0.2 to 0.3 to land in the same lane as a recurring performance from HGTV’s “Property Brothers.”

At the forefront of the repeat 0.2’s was Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” which was joined by Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Dallas” and HGTV’s “House Hunters” and “House Hunters International.” Finally, the almost-always-in-flux “Expedition Unknown” faltered from an unusual period of stability and fell from 0.3 to 0.2.
