“World News with Diane Sawyer” Experiences the Most Total Viewer Growth Among Evening Newscasts Week to Week

“World News” Closes Total Viewing Gap with NBC Week to Week

Increases Total Viewing Advantage Over CBS Week to Week & Year to Year

For the week of September 20, “World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 7.01 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/6 among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. Compared to the previous week, “World News” experienced the most Total Viewer growth among the three evening newscasts (+120,000).

Compared to the previous week, “World News” closed the Total Viewing gap with “NBC Nightly News.” The gap was 20,000 viewers smaller Additionally, “World News’” Total Viewing lead (1,760,000) over “CBS Evening News” increased by 30,000 viewers week to week and by 20,000 viewers year to year.

Note: George Stephanopoulos anchored the broadcast on Friday.

Last week on “World News,” Brian Ross reported on Bank of America debt collectors who were caught making racist and offensive calls, and Sharyn Alfonsi took a closer look at child sex trafficking in America. Additionally “World News” reported on how the new health care law will affect health care plans across the country as some of the provisions went into effect Thursday. Jake Tapper covered the U.N. General Assembly meeting.
