Monday Night’s Tonight Show edged out Late Show in the preliminary metered markets 3.4/9 (household rating/share) versus 2.7/7. The margins were slimmer with adults 18-49 where in the preliminary ratings in the 25 markets with Local People Meters Jay Leno scored a 1.1/5 versus David Letterman’s 1.0/4.

Update: in the fast nationals it was much, much closer with viewers with Jay just eking out a victory. 4.180 to 4.116 million and “Leno” averaged  with Dave winning the demo 2,012,000 million and to Leno’s 1,875,000 million.
