FX has revealed the theme and premiere date for the next installment of “American Horror Story.”
Season 7 of the show will be subtitled “Cult,” and from the looks of the website FX launched late Thursday, it will have something to do with scary clowns. Co-creator Ryan Murphy has also teased the return of Twisty the Clown from the “Freak Show” season.
The new season will premiere Sept. 5. FX is promising more hints about the show weekly at the site. The first one features a brief, partially obscured glimpse of a young woman’s face amid all the clowns.
The rollout strategy is a little more direct than last year’s “Roanoke,” which relied almost entirely on cryptic, symbol-laden short teasers that didn’t reveal anything about the story.
Not much detail exists about “Cult” yet either. “AHS” veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be part of the cast, along with Billy Eichner, Lena Dunham, Billie Lourd, Laura Allen, Colton Haynes and Leslie Grossman.
FX also put out the first teaser for the show with, yep, more clowns, including a lone woman who doesn’t look like she’s with the program.
