Because it did not get the best ratings ever, “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” is done after one season.

NBC has canceled the variety show, which featured Harris and celebrity guests in a mix of pre-taped bits, live comedy sketches and music performances. Variety first reported the news and notes the network and Harris will work on developing a new project.

The show averaged a 1.5 same-day rating in adults 18-49 over its eight-episode run, growing to 1.7 in Live +7. Those aren’t terrible ratings in the current climate, but “Best Time Ever” was also not cheap to produce, so NBC and Harris will go back to the drawing board.

The show joins these series that are canceled or ending in 2015-16.
