“Blood & Treasure’s” adventures are far from over.
CBS has officially renewed the freshman summer drama for a second season today. The news comes just as “Blood & Treasure” heads into the back half of its first season.
Created by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, the series is a globe-trotting action-adventure drama following a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief, who team up to catch a ruthless terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure.
The series stars Matt Barr and Sofia Pernas in the lead roles, along with Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Oded Fehr, Alicia Coppola, and Mark Gagliardi.
“Blood & Treasure is a fun, escapist adventure with comedic elements filmed in multiple locales around the world that has been a great performer and a wonderful addition to our summer schedule,” said Amy Reisenbach, Executive Vice President of Current Programs at CBS Entertainment. “We’ve heard the story pitch for season two and look forward to seeing all-new exploits from Russia to Southeast Asia next year.”
“Blood & Treasure’s” renewal today comes as somewhat of a surprise, since the series has been raking in fairly low ratings in recent weeks. On the other hand, the series has at least been a steady ratings performer for the network, and has achieved a +17% improvement over how its Tuesday night time slot was performing in 2018.
The series is currently averaging a 0.5 live + same day rating among adults 18-49 with 4.36 million viewers.
