ABC has renewed two of its highest-profile reality series.

Both “Dancing With the Stars” and “The Bachelor” got the nod Friday afternoon, ensuring that they will return for additional seasons.

“Dancing With the Stars” finished in November, and now has been confirmed for a twenty-eighth season. While the news isn’t surprising for the long-running ABC staple, this year the network broke from tradition and abstained from green-lighting a Spring 2019 cycle for the series. A controversy regarding voting for contestants also sparked a minor outcry from fans recently. Nonetheless, the dancing competition picked up an average of 7 million viewers per episode this season with a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49, making this an obvious call.

Dating series “The Bachelor” will also return for a twenty-fourth season. The twenty-third season, which had its own fair share of controversies, was a stronger performer than the twenty-second, moving from a 1.7 average rating in adults 18-49 to a 1.9. The average number of viewers increased from 6.3 million to 6.5 million, as well. That “The Bachelor” would continue was less in doubt than the future of “Dancing With the Stars.”

ABC has also recently renewed “Station 19,” “How to Get Away With Murder,” “The Conners,” “Black-ish,” “A Million Little Things,” “The Good Doctor,” and “Modern Family.”  In addition, “Grey’s Anatomy” received news that it has been renewed through its seventeenth season.

With all of this, a strong picture of the upcoming 2019-2020 season is beginning to take shape.
