It’s the end of the line for several CBS comedies today.

“Fam,” “Life in Pieces,” “Murphy Brown,” and “Happy Together” have all been canceled today. They are CBS’ first scripted cancellations of the season, coming off a slew of renewals handed out by the network yesterday and today.

“Happy Together” has been considered a likely cancellation for several months now, after it became CBS’ only freshman fall show to not receive an order for additional episodes. “Murphy Brown” seemed destined to remain a 13-episode revival as well, while “Fam” failed to impress this spring, putting it into similar territory.

All three comedies put up low ratings for first-year titles, with both “Fam” and “Happy Together” averaging 0.9 live + same day ratings among adults 18-49, and “Murphy Brown” averaging a 0.8.

Things seemed a bit more optimistic for “Life in Pieces,” which averaging the same 0.8 as “Murphy Brown,” was in its fourth year on the network, and has been a fan-favorite amongst viewers. Unfortunately, “Life in Pieces” failed to make it to a fifth season, and is CBS’ only veteran comedy not renewed for the 2019-20 season.

There’s still no word on whether or not CBS two remaining rookie dramas, “The Code” and “The Red Line,” will be returning for second seasons. Both shows have struggled in the ratings, pointing towards likely cancellations for both, which could be announced any day now.
