“Friends from College” was not Netflix’s most well-received series, at least among critics. To put it mildly.

The show has, however, apparently gotten enough love from viewers for the streaming service to pick it up for a second season.

Netflix doesn’t release viewing numbers for its series. “Friends from College,” about a group of Harvard alumni whose college friendships have morphed into something more complicated and prickly, began streaming July 14. That’s 38 days from launch to renewal

The window for the pickup is slightly longer to that of “Ozark,” which was renewed after streaming for 26 days.

“Friends from College” stars Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Fred Savage, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon and Jae Suh Park.

Married couple Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller co-created the series, with Stoller (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) also directing all eight episodes of the first season. He and Delbanco co-wrote three episodes together, and Stoller co-wrote two others as well.

The series was mostly panned on its release, earning a 44 score (out of 100) on Metacritic based on 31 reviews and just a 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, from 49 reviews. The audience scores on both aggregators are higher, with a 5.3 (out of 10) on Metacritic and 72% approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

Season 2 of “Friends from College” will run for eight episodes, the same as the first season. There’s no release date yet.

The series joins these shows that have been renewed for 2017-18 and beyond.
