A day after picking up “The Grinder” for a full season, FOX has followed suit with its Tuesday night lead-in, “Grandfathered.”

The show starring John Stamos as a 50-year-old bachelor who finds out he has both a son (Josh Peck) and a granddaughter has performed modestly but steadily so far. It debuted to a 1.5 same-day raitng in adults 18-49 and has lately been hovering around a 1.0. For the season so far, it’s averaging a 1.18 same-day rating, a tenth better than “The Grinder.”

“‘Grandfathered’ had the Herculean task of self-starting on what is an incredibly competitive Tuesday night, and the series has proven itself up to the challenge,” FOX Entertainment president Dvaid Madden says. “We know fans are going to love the surprises in store for the rest of the season.”

“Grandfathered” was pre-empted this week for FOX’s World Series coverage but is due to return Nov. 3 — unless the World Series goes to a sixth game.
