Less than a day after canceling one of its dramas, ABC has just guaranteed the returns of three others this morning.

The network has officially renewed “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Station 19,” and “How to Get Away with Murder” for the 2019-20 season. “Grey’s” has been picked up for 2 more seasons, which will carry the long-running medical drama through to its seventeenth season, but “Station 19” and “Murder” were both given just single-season renewals.

“Station 19” will be returning for its third season this fall, while “Murder” will be back for its sixth and “Grey’s” for its sixteenth. All three dramas were considered likely to be renewed by the network, leading up to the announcement today. The renewals also come following the cancellation of the network’s sophomore legal drama, “For the People,” last night.

While “How to Get Away with Murder” has been anything but a ratings hit this season, with only a 0.7 live + same day average among adults 18-49, it seemed unlikely that the show would be canceled without the announcement of a final season first. Following its renewal today too, it seems safe to say that whenever “Murder” does end, ABC will be sure to let viewers know beforehand.

“Grey’s” has been a no-brainer renewal from the very beginning, and with a 1.6 average this season tying it with “The Conners” as ABC’s highest-rated scripted series, there was never any doubt that the long-running medical drama would be coming back for another season. “Station 19’s” 1.0 average kept it in a good position for renewal as well.

The three Shondaland dramas now join just a handful of other ABC shows that have been renewed for the 2019-20 season, including “The Conners,” “Black-ish,” “A Million Little Things,” “The Good Doctor,” and “Modern Family.”
