Showtime has picked up “Homeland” and “The Affair” for new seasons in 2016.

Former Emmy winner “Homeland” will go into its sixth season next year, while “The Affair” will return for a third run. Both shows finish their current seasons on Dec. 20.

The two shows have performed reasonably well with viewers this season. On Sunday “Homeland” drew a 0.6 same-day rating in adults 18-49 and 1.74 million viewers, while “The Affair” posted a 0.3 and 833,000 viewers. In Live +3 for the previous week, “Homeland” pulled in a 0.8 and 2.38 million people, and “The Affair” scored a 0.5 and 1.42 million.

Showtime notes that the two shows are the highest-rated scripted series on premium cable this fall.
