FOX has set a premiere date for its drama series “Houdini & Doyle,” in which Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle work proto-“X-Files” cases for Scotland Yard.
The show will premiere at 9 p.m. ET/PT Monday, May 2, a week after the season finale of “Lucifer.” “Houdini & Doyle” will then run into the summer as part of a lineup that also includes Season 2 of “Wayward Pines,” new competition series “American Grit” (which premieres in mid-April) and “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation.” The network also has enough episodes of “Bones” to run into June.
“Houdini & Doyle” stars Michael Weston (“House,” “Garden State”) as Harry Houdini, the famed magician and debunker of supposed paranormal phenomena. Stephen Mangan (“Episodes”) plays Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle, who’s more willing to believe in the mystic. They’re thrown together to investigate tough, strange cases for Scotland Yard alongside London’s first female constable, Adelaide Stratton (Rebecca Liddiard, “Between”).
David Hoselton (“House”) and David Titcher (“The Librarians”) created the show. “House” creator David Shore is an executive producer.
