It’s not a full season for either show, but both “iZombie” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” have had their episode orders extended at The CW.
The network has picked up six additional hours of “iZombie,” bringing its total for the season to 19. It debuted in March and got only a 13-episode order to start Season 2.
So far this season, “iZombie” is averaging a 0.57 same-day rating in adults 18-49, which is right in the middle of The CW’s scripted series.
“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” meanwhile, has an order for five more episodes to bring its season total to 18. The show has been one of The CW’s weakest ratings performers thus far, averaging a 0.28 same-day rating. The network is reportedly high on the show and star Rachel Bloom, however, so it’s getting a little extra time.
Both orders will also, at the very least, help The CW minimize the number of repeats it has to air this season. The network has three shows — “The 100,” “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Containment” — on hand for later in the season. Two of those could pretty easily fill in for “iZombie” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” once they finish their runs.
