The CW has officially renewed “iZombie” for a fifth season.
Created by Rob Thomas and described as a “rom-com-zom-dram,” the series follows Rose McIver’s Liv Moore as an undead medical examiner, who helps the Seattle Police Department solve homicides by eating the brains of the deceased, to see visions of the moments before their respective deaths. Along with Moore, the series also stars David Anders, Robert Buckley, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli and Aly Michalka.
The series, which has become a fan-favorite mainstay on the network’s roster, is more than halfway through its fourth season, with its season finale set to air in just a few weeks. It has been averaging a 0.25 rating in adults 18-49 with 770,000 average viewers, down just slightly from its third season’s 0.31 average.
With this renewal “iZombie” now joins “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” “The Flash,” “Black Lightning,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Jane the Virgin,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Riverdale,” and more as CW shows already confirmed to be returning on the network next season. It also comes just a few days after the network canceled its freshman series, “Life Sentence” and “Valor.”
This renewal comes just as the network has announced series pickups for a total of 5 new shows, all of which are set to make their premiere throughout the 2018-19 TV season.
