Netflix is saying goodbye to the rest of its Marvel TV titles.

In an announcement made this morning, the streaming service officially canceled its final 2 remaining Marvel shows, “The Punisher” and “Jessica Jones.” Netflix did, however, also confirm that the already-shot, upcoming third season of “Jessica Jones” will still be released, and will act as the show’s final outing. Meanwhile, the second season of “The Punisher,” which premiered on the platform a month ago, will be the show’s last.

The news today, while not what many fans will have wanted to hear, has been expected for quite some time now. The cancellations come after Netflix began individually axing each of Marvel titles late last year, starting with “Iron Fist” in October, “Luke Cage” a week later, and then “Daredevil” in November.

“‘Marvel’s The Punisher’ will not return for a third season on Netflix,” said Netflix in a statement today. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come.”

“In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones.’ We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others. We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.”

As with all Netflix programming, official viewership statistics for each of the Marvel shows have remained unknown, but all four have still remained some of the streaming service’s most-popular and well-known titles since they first began with “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” in 2015. As a result, there is the possibility than any or all four of the comic book shows could return sometime down the line on Disney’s upcoming Disney+ streaming platform, but only time will tell.

For now, both “Jessica Jones” and “The Punisher,” along with all of Netflix’s other, already-canceled Marvel titles, remain available to stream on the platform.
