CBS has picked up nine more episodes of its rookie drama “Limitless,” marking the network’s first full-season pickup for a new show this fall.
The show, a continuation/adaptation of the 2011 Bradley Cooper movie (Cooper appeared in the pilot and is a producer), has been a solid performer so far. It’s averaging a 1.66 rating (same-day) in adults 18-49 through five episodes, although the past two weeks — which aired opposite NBC’s veteran “Chicago Fire” — have been somewhat lower, each scoring a 1.4.
The first two episodes rose from an average of 1.9 to 3.2 in Live +7 ratings.
“Limitless” joins NBC’s “Blindspot,” FOX’s “Rosewood” and ABC’s “Quantico” and “Dr. Ken” in receiving full-season pickups. CBS’ move could also mean that Season 5 of “Person of Interest,” the previous occupant of the 10 p.m. Tuesday spot, could land in a new home when it returns later in the season.
