It was a morning of renewals for several TBS titles.
Announced earlier today, TBS has officially renewed its anthology comedy series, “Miracle Workers,” for a second season, along with the Tiffany Haddish and Tracy Morgan-led “The Last O.G.” for a third season.
Additionally, the network has announced that “Snowpiercer,” a series adaptation of the 2013 film of the same name, which was originally developed and intended to air on TNT, will instead be airing on TBS. In conjunction with the announcement, TBS handed out an early season 2 renewal for the series, which is set to premiere in spring 2020.
“‘Snowpiercer’ is the perfect show to kick off TBS’ entry into dramas with intricate storytelling, stunning visuals and first-class acting,” said Brett Weitz, General Manager of TBS and TNT. “We believe in the longevity of this series and that audiences will be amazed by the fantastical world that brings to life such relevant social, political and environmental issues.”
The network also announced that “Miracle Workers” stars, Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Karan Soni, will be returning for the second season, playing entirely different roles than they did in the first. The new season will reportedly take place in the medieval times, following a group of villagers trying to stay positive in an age of inequality and fake news.
“I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to bring my novel ‘What in God’s Name’ to life in season one,” said “Miracle Workers” creator, Simon Rich. “And now that I’ve bled that sucker dry, I’m really excited to tell a brand-new story with the same group of brilliant actors.”
“The Last O.G.” stars, Tiffany Haddish and Tracy Morgan, are set to return for the show’s third season, along with several of their fellow cast members. Morgan commented on the series’ renewal with the following:
“’The Last O.G.’ is very meaningful to me and I am blessed to get to work with my family for another season,” said Morgan. “We are going to go to a whole other level this year. JUST WAIT.”
