Jess, Nick and the gang from the loft (even those who no longer live in the loft) will be back on FOX one last time in 2017-18.

The network has renewed “New Girl” for a seventh and final season. The Season 6 finale in April likely could have served as a series finale had it gone that way, but the show will get to play out what comes after the events of the finale next season.

“New Girl” averaged a 0.9 rating and 2.06 million viewers the night it aired this season, in line with other renewed FOX comedies like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Last Man on Earth.” A week of DVR and on-demand viewing pushed it up to 1.6 (a little better than either “Brooklyn” or “Last Man”) and 3.15 million viewers.

The show was one of a handful of FOX series that went into the weekend uncertain of their futures. The network has yet to make an official announcement on limited series “Shots Fired,” rookie “24: Legacy” and returning shows “Scream Queens” and “Family Guy,” though the latter is all but certain to be renewed.

FOX announces its full 2017-18 schedule Monday morning. “New Girl” joins these shows that have been renewed for next season and beyond.
