Freeform has given “The Perfectionists,” a new “Pretty Little Liars” spinoff, a series order today. The show, based on the book of the same name by Sara Shepard, is expected to premiere its 10-episode first season on the network in 2019.

Originally put into development at Freeform back in 2014, the series was retooled as a spinoff to “Liars,” since both were based on books written by Shepard. The pilot episode of “Perfectionists” was penned by “Liars” showrunner, I. Marlene King, who will also serve as executive producer on the series alongside Charlie Craig, Lisa Cochran-Neilan, Leslie Morgenstein, and Gina Girolamo.

Set in the seemingly perfect, fictional town of Beacon Heights, “Perfectionists” will follow a group of three college friends who struggle with the stress of being overachievers. In the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie and an alibi.

In addition to taking place in the same universe as “Liars” too, the series will also feature “PLL” stars, Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, reprising their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal, respectively. They will star in the series alongside Eli Brown, Sofia Carson, Sydney Park, Kelly Rutherford, Graeme Thomas King, and Hayley Erin.

The series order announcement for “The Perfectionists,” comes just a little less than a year after Freeform wrapped up “Pretty Little Liars'” seventh and final season last summer.
