Less than 48 hours after its sixth season premiered, “Shameless” has been renewed for a seventh.
Showtime made the announcement Tuesday during its portion of the winter TV press tour. The show’s Season 6 premiere on Sunday drew a 0.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.44 million viewers, its best same-day premiere ratings ever.
Other announcements from Showtime:
- Season 5 of “House of Lies” premieres at 9 p.m. ET/PT Sunday, April 10. The season finale is currently filming in Cuba.
- “Penny Dreadful’s” third season will debut at 10 p.m. Sunday, May 1.
- The channel has picked up a series called “I’m Dying Up Here,” about the L.A. stand-up comedy scene in the 1970s. Produced by Jim Carrey and written by Dave Flebotte (“Masters of Sex”), the show stars Melissa Leo as a comedy club owner and Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, RJ Cyler, Michael Angarano, Erik Griffin and Stephen Guarino as comics who work at the club.
