FOX will keep searching for America’s best dancers in 2019.

Announced this afternoon, the network has officially picked up its long-running, reality-competition series, “So You Think You Can Dance,” for a sixteenth season. The series will return in its usual summer slot later this year.

“Each season, the talent on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ reaches new levels and continues to create the most incredible routines,” said Rob Wade, President of Alternative Entertainment and Specials at FOX. “The hard work and passion that goes into each performance is awe-inspiring. We can’t wait to see what season 16 has in store and look forward to bringing you a new crop of incredible, inspired and inspiring dancers.”

Co-creator, Executive Producer, and on-air judge, Nigel Lythgoe added, “I am thrilled that we have been picked up by Fox for season 16 of ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ This allows us to shine the spotlight once again on the incredible choreographic and dance talent across the United States as we search for America’s favorite dancer.”

The news comes several months after “So You Think You Can Dance” wrapped up its fifteenth season in late summer last year, where it had averaged a 0.6 live + same day rating among adults 18-49. That’s down just a tenth from the 0.7 it had averaged throughout its fourteenth season, which in turn, had been down a tenth from its previous season as well.
