After airing a two-hour special on Jan. 4, 2016, FOX will bring “Superhuman” back for eight more, one-hour episodes. Kal Penn is set to return as the host as well, the network announced earlier today.
The unscripted competition series brings ordinary people into the spotlight to let them test their extraordinary abilities and skills. Online casting calls have begun for the new series of episodes, looking for people to showcase their near-superhuman abilities in fields like memory, touch, taste, smell, and sight.
The two-hour special featured twelve participants competing for a grand prize of $100,000, while being watched by Penn and a guest panel, who then left it in the hands of the studio audience to decide who took home the grand prize and the title of being a true “Superhuman.”
The show is based on “The Brain,” a German series (currently in its sixth series) which became a breakout hit internationally as well in countries like China, Italy, Brazil, Spain, and France. The United States is now the seventh territory to launch the a series with the same format.
