The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the Golden Globe Awards Monday, and as we do with every big TV awards show, TV by the Numbers has ranked the nominees by how many people watch them.
Most of them, anyway. Five of the 15 nominees for best drama, comedy and limited series come from streaming services, which means we don’t have reliable audience figures for them. So you won’t see “The Crown,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Master of None” or “Stranger Things” in the chart below.
(Nielsen data for “Stranger Things” does suggest that it would be near the top of the chart, however.)
Among the 10 broadcast and cable nominees, “Game of Thrones” is the runaway leader in adults 18-49. Season 7 scored a 4.8 in the demographic, two points ahead of “This Is Us,” whose current season averages a 2.8.
“This Is Us” has a slight lead over “Game of Thrones” in total viewers. Comedy nominees “Will & Grace” and “Black-ish” rank third and fourth, and there’s a sizable dropoff from there for the remainder.
Here are the nominees ranked by ratings. All figures are live + same-day for each show’s current or most recently completed season.
