“The Bold Type” will continue for another season.
Freeform officially renewed the dramedy for a fourth season late Tuesday afternoon, making the announcement at the network’s portion of the Disney upfront presentation in New York.
Series stars Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy, and Katie Stevens took the stage at the event to share the news, stating:
“On ‘The Bold Type,’ we play characters who are determined to succeed in the New York fashion media business. We balance careers, friendship and love on the daily. But this show is so important to us and our fans because regardless of who you are, we are all just trying to navigate the mess of our lives. And we are so excited to be coming back for Season 4! Here’s to more bold stories, friendship and a whole lot of rosé.”
“The Bold Type” revolves around three central characters – Kat (Aisha Dee), Jane (Katie Stevens), and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) – as they work at global women’s magazine ‘Scarlet,’ finding both themselves as people and their voices as contributors to the magazine. All of this is loosely based on the real life experiences of Joanna Coles, a former editor-in-chief at Cosmopolitan Magazine and chief content officer of Hearst.
The series, which will return under its third showrunner as producer Wendy Straker Hauser (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) takes over from Amanda Lasher, has regularly scored a 0.1 in live ratings in adults 18-49 this season. Additionally, the first five episodes of season three have been watched by an average of 0.21 million viewers. It is produced by Universal Television, in association with Freeform and The District.
