NBC has given out a series order for “The InBetween,” a new drama series produced by Universal Television, NBCU International Television Studio, and Heyday Television. The news of which comes just days after NBC also given out series orders for “The Village,” “The Enemy Within,” “Manifest” and “New Amsterdam.”

Written and executive produced by Moira Kirland, the series centers on Cassie Bishop, a girl born with a gift to communicate with the dead and help them solve their unresolved problems. The only problem is, Cassie doesn’t ever have much of a say in the matter, and her gift has started to feel more like a curse. That is, until her longtime friend Detective Tom Hackett and his new partner, former FBI Agent Damien Asante, ask her for her help in solving a dark, puzzling murder.

Although reluctantly, Cassie agrees to use her abilities and discovers that helping Tom and Damien may just be what she needs to help keep her demons at bay, all while helping to resolve some of the biggest crime cases that her city has to offer at the same time.

The show’s cast includes Harriet Dyer, Anne-Marie Johnson, Cindy Luna, Chad James Buchanan, and Paul Blackthorne, whose involvement was kept quiet while he wrapped up his time on “Arrow.” Its pilot episode is set to be directed by Charlotte Sieling.

With this pickup, “The InBetween” now joins “Manifest,” “Abby’s,” “I Feel Bad,” “The Village,” “The Enemy Within,” “New Amsterdam,” and “The Gilded Age” as the new titles expected to make their premieres on the network throughout the 2018-19 season.
