MTV will keep exploring the world of Shannara for another season.

The cable channel has picked up a second season of its drama series “The Shannara Chronicles,” based on the fantasy novels by Terry Brooks. The show put up decent ratings in its first season earlier this year.

Although its same-day numbers were nothing special — usually drawing a 0.3 or 0.4 in adults 18-49 — “Shannara” regularly doubled its audience in Live +3 and Live +7. MTV says it averaged just under a 1.0 Live +3 rating in its core 12-34 demographic, the best performance by a new MTV show this year.

“This dream team delivered a beautiful, ground-breaking show with compelling stories and character journeys which brought in new viewers,” Mina Lefevre, head of scripted development for MTV, says in a statement.

“The Shannara Chronicles” joins these shows that have been renewed for 2016-17 and beyond. There’s no word yet on a premiere date for Season 2.
