CBS All Access and Jordan Peele aren’t done with “The Twilight Zone.”
Announced this morning, the streaming service has officially renewed Peele and Simon Kinberg’s “Twilight Zone” revival for a second season. The news comes as the anthology series continues making its way through its first season, with its fifth episode premiering late last week.
“Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg’s reimagining of ‘The Twilight Zone’ is off to an amazing start on CBS All Access, driving the most viewers on its premiere day for an original series to date,” said Julie McNamara, Executive VP of Original Content for the streaming service. “Jordan, Simon, the creative team and cast have done a phenomenal job translating the series’ legacy of socially conscious storytelling for modern-day audiences. They are master storytellers, and we look forward to bringing fans further into ‘The Twilight Zone’ with a second season.”
Like every other streaming service, CBS All Access doesn’t release actual viewership numbers or statistics for any of its titles, so there’s no way of knowing just how many people have tuned in to “The Twilight Zone” revival up to this point.
But for what it’s worth, the revival series has had a plethora of notable names involved in it, starting with Peele, who serve as both executive producer and the onscreen narrator for each episode. Thanks to the show’s anthology nature as well, its first season’s revolving door of actors includes Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Steven Yeun, Greg Kinnear, Zazie Beetz, Jacob Tremblay, Allison Tolman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Seth Rogan, John Cho, Taissa Farmiga, Tracy Morgan, Chris O’Dowd, and more.
New episodes of “The Twilight Zone” premiere Thursdays on CBS All Access.
