It seems cutting episode orders is the new cancellation this fall.
The latest dead show walking is NBC’s comedy “Truth Be Told,” which was reduced from 13 episodes to 10 on Tuesday. The show opened to a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 on Oct. 16 — beleived to be the lowest ever for a series premiere on the Big 4 networks — and fell a tenth to 0.6 last week.
The show is in production on its 10th episode and will shut down after that. It was already extremely unlikely to get more episodes with its early ratings, and this pretty well cements that.
“Truth Be Told” is the second NBC show to have its order cut, following “The Player,” which was reduced from 13 to nine episodes. ABC’s “Blood & Oil” and FOX’s “Minority Report” have also been trimmed back, though no show has actually been taken off the schedule yet.
