“You’re the Worst” will return in 2018 for a fifth and, FXX says, final season.

The decision to end the show next season was a mutual one between series creator Stephen Falk and FX Networks, per a press release from FXX. The news comes a few hours before show’s Season 4 finale Wednesday night.

“Stephen Falk has been an extraordinary creative partner to work with over the past four years, and it is in that spirit that we came to the mutual decision to end ‘You’re the Worst’ with its fifth season,” says Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX Networks. “Stephen’s singular vision for the series has been its guiding force from the start and our decision, while difficult, will allow the series to end on its own terms and in a way most satisfying to its devoted fans.”

“You’re the Worst” is averaging 234,000 viewers and a 0.1 rating among adults 18-49 for initial airings; its viewership has improved slightly on last season’s 218,000 (and has been in that range for its entire run on FXX after moving from FX following Season 1). It usually doubles its audience with a week of delayed viewing.

The show joins these series that have been renewed for 2018-19 and beyond.
