“GMA” Only Program Versus the Competition to Increase In Total Viewers Year to Year

“GMA” Cuts Total Viewing Gaps with NBC’s “Today” Week to Week,

Year to Year and Season to Date

For 4th Quarter 2010, “GMA” Increases the Most Versus the

Competition in Total Viewers Compared to 4th Quarter ‘09

ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 4.550 million Total Viewers and a 1.4/10 among Adults 25-54 for the week of December 20. “GMA” was the only morning program compared to the competition to grow (+1%) among Total Viewers vs. last year (NBC’s “Today” declined -5%, CBS’ “Early Show”-4%).

Additionally, “GMA” shrank the weekly total viewing gap (810,000) with “Today” by -7%. This marks NBC’s smallest weekly total viewing lead over ABC in a month, while “Today’s” weekly demo lead over ABC was the smallest since October. Versus last year, ABC shrank the total viewing gap with NBC by -31%.

For the just completed 4th Quarter and season to date, “GMA” grew the most compared to the competition among Total Viewers versus 4th Quarter ’09. “GMA” increased +4% in Total Viewers, while NBC was down -4% and CBS was up +1%. “GMA” narrowed the total viewing gap with “Today” by -29% and expanded its total viewing lead over “Early Show” by +10% versus 4th Quarter ’09.

*Note: Due to the Christmas Eve holiday on Friday, ABC, CBS and NBC were coded as specials and excluded from the weekly average.

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
