NEW YORK – DECEMBER 3, 2012 – Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, has announced that its popular morning show, “Despierta América” (Wake-Up America), is showing double-digit percentage growth season-to-date among Total Viewers 2+ (+30%), Adults 18-49 (+22%) and Adults 25-54 (+25%) compared with last season. In fact, “Despierta América” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” (+2%) are the only early morning broadcast network programs showing growth season-to-date among Adults 18-49 while NBC’s “Today Show” (-21%) and CBS’s “This Morning” (-3%) are showing declines among this key demographic.


“Despierta América’s” strong season is being powered by an incredibly strong November sweep, during which “Despierta América” averaged 929,000 Total Viewers 2+, 474,000 Adults 18-49 and 489,000 Adults 25-54.  In fact, it was “Despierta América’s” highest November sweep performance among Total Viewers 2+.


Key Highlights:          

  • For the week of November 19, 2012, “Despierta América” averaged 1 million Total Viewers 2+, 508,000 Adults 18-49 and 500,000 Adults 25-54. Versus the same week in 2011, “Despierta América” reported double-digit percentage growth (up by more than 40%) among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. It also marked the third, fourth and fifth consecutive week of audience growth across Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, respectively.


  • During the November 2012 sweep, “Despierta América” also recorded strong audience growth versus November 2011 sweep with Total Viewers 2+ (+37%), Adults 18-49 (+33%), Adults 25-54 (+34%) and Adults 18-34 (+5%).
