With the clock ticking and just over two days left to stave off a U.S. default, the ABC News powerhouse political team will be reporting for all broadcasts and platforms. ABC News Chief Political Correspondent George Stephanopoulos will co-anchor the Sunday editions of “Good Morning America” and “ABC World News” from Washington DC, and will contribute reporting and analysis for “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” on July 31. Stephanopoulos will also co-anchor “Good Morning America” from Washington on Monday, August 1.


On Monday, August 1, Diane Sawyer will anchor “ABC World News” from Washington DC. With just hours left before the deadline to avoid default, Sawyer and ABC’s political team will bring viewers the latest on the debate from the nation’s Capitol.


In addition, throughout the weekend ABC Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper and Senior Political Correspondent Jonathan Karl will bring viewers inside the negotiations between lawmakers on Capitol Hill and in the White House as they work to avoid a U.S. default on its debt.


ABC News Political Director Amy Walter and Deputy Political Director Michael Falcone will publish special morning and evening editions of ABC’s popular political tip sheet, “The Note.” Up to the minute reporting from the political unit will be available throughout the day at on “The Note“ and “Political Punch“ blogs.
