Hosted By Steve Harvey, The Tenth CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL Featured Soul-Stirring Performances by Fantasia and Diane Barrino Barber, Anthony Hamilton and Tarsha, Yolanda Adams, Bobby Jones, Donnie McClurkin, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond and more

NEW YORKJanuary 11, 2010—BET’s CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL remains television’s #1 religious/gospel telecast with this year’s show on Sunday, January 10 with 2.6 million viewers, up 41% from last year, who tuned in to enjoy performances by the brightest stars in gospel and R&B.

This year’s CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL is the fourth consecutive BET signature special to post huge gains which contribute to BET’s ranking as the 14th cable network among viewers 18-34 season to date as well as the 20th cable network among viewers 18-49 season to date.  Additionally, all demographics are up double-digits, with the key demographic – adults 18-49 – up 47% versus the 2009 telecast, making it the number one CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL in BET history.

Aptly themed “Ten Years, Faithfully Yours,” the incredible show had double-digit gains every half hour.  The show had many highlights, including a surprise tribute by Donnie McClurkin and Marvin Sapp to recognize Steve Harvey for his ten years of hosting the show, which moved him to tears.  The vocalists’ medley of “We Fall Down” and “He Saw the Best in Me,” along with the audiences’ emotional reaction will go down in history as one of the most memorable moments in gospel performances.

The inspirational event also included rousing performances by Pastor Shirley Caesar, Dr. Bobby Jones and SUNDAY BEST winner Y’Anna Crawley, Fred Hammond, The Rance Allen Group Tye Tribbett and Greater Anointing, Kelly Price, Donald Lawrence and Ledisi, spoken word by Sherri Shepherd, Elise Neal and Bishop Noel Jones and much more.

CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL is produced by Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming & Specials, BET; Lynne Harris Taylor, Vice President of Specials, BET; and Geovanni Brewer, executive producer.
