— Production to Resume in Southern California —

A second season of “Zeke and Luther,” a skateboarding, stunt-filled comedy series set against a sport that is a mainstay with boys age 6-14, has been ordered by Disney XD, it was announced today by Gary Marsh, President, Entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production will resume in September in and around Southern California’s beach communities. The stories revolve around relatable 15-year-olds Zeke and Luther, lifelong buddies who are determined to become world famous skateboarders. Fame and fortune are a long way off, but these boys dream big and are undeterred by nay-sayers and wipeouts.

Marsh said, “‘Zeke and Luther’ is an absolutely iconic series for Disney XD — a comic video postcard that perfectly captures the friendship and fraternity that embodies the idyllic beach skateboard culture.”

“Zeke and Luther” premiered in June on Disney XD in the U.S. and in July with the launch of Disney XD in Latin America. It will premiere soon on Disney XD channels in France, Italy, the UK, Germany, Spain, Poland, Scandinavia and Japan.

The single camera comedy is from creators and executive producers Matt Dearborn and Tom Burkhard, the team behind the Emmy Award-nominated and BAFTA-winning Disney Channel series, “Even Stevens.”

“Zeke and Luther” stars Hutch Dano as Zeke, Adam Hicks as Luther, Daniel Curtis Lee as Kojo and Ryan Newman as Ginger.

Its June series debut delivered the highest ratings ever for a primetime series premiere on the channel (including its 10-year history as Toon Disney). “Zeke and Luther” now ranks as Disney XD’s #1 program among Kids 6-14 and Boys 6-14, improving time period performance by triple-digit percentages across the board. Additionally, its premiere lifted Disney XD to its highest timeslot (Monday 8:30 p.m.) ratings ever across all target boy demographics.

Zeke and Luther live in a mythical Northern California beach community called Pacific Terrace, where they can be found chilling in the sunny driveway out front, perfecting skateboard tricks in an alleyway behind a nearby mini-mall (dubbed “ramps plus”) or cruising down to the pier overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, on the primary mode of transportation — skateboards. Quick to challenge the boy’ claim to being the best skateboarders in the neighborhood is friend and foe Kojo, also 15.

Kojo’s got a big attitude and a big mouth, and takes great pleasure in taking Zeke and Luther down a peg whenever he can. Another thorn in their side is Ginger, Zeke’s 12-year-old sister, who finds her brother’s skateboarding dreams childish, to say the least.

“Zeke and Luther” is produced by Turtle Rock Productions, Inc. It carries a TV-Y7 parental guideline.
