Lifted by key properties “Zeke and Luther,” “Aaron Stone” and “Phineas and Ferb,” along with high performing animated features “The Incredibles” and “Cars,” Disney XD’s delivered its largest Summer audience in the net’s history (includes Toon Disney) in Total Day in Total Viewers (294,000) and across all key kid targets, specifically Kids 6-14 (148,000) and Boys 6-14 (92,000), posting solid double-digit percent increases in all key breaks.  Additionally, summer months June, July and August wrapped as the net’s Top 3 most-watched months ever in Total Viewers and across all target kid and boy categories.

In Prime, Summer 09 wrapped as Disney XD’s most-watched summer on record across most target measures including Total Viewers (327,000), Kids 6-14 (160,000) and Boys 6-14 (104,000).  Moreover, echoing Total Day, during Summer 09, the net registered its 3 largest monthly audiences ever in June, July and August in Kids 6-14, Tweens 9-14 and Boys 9-14.

Most impressive, Disney XD was cable’s growth leader in Prime in Tweens 9-14 (+114% – 92,000 vs. 43,000), and led all kid-targeting cable networks in growth in Kids 6-14 (+67% – 160,000 vs. 96,000), Boys 6-14 (+39% – 104,000 vs. 75,000), Kids 6-11 (+54% – 128,000 vs. 83,000) and Boys 9-14 (+88% – 62,000 vs. 33,000). In Total Day, Disney XD also led all kid-targeting cable nets in increases across core kid and boy demos.

Programming Highlights

  • In its primary Monday, 8:30 p.m. time period, newcomer “Zeke and Luther” delivered sizeable increase over year-ago time period averages across the board, including by more than double in Boys 6-14 (192,000 vs. 95,000) and Boys 9-14 (106,000 vs. 46,000), and by a solid 49% in Total Viewers (442,000 vs. 296,000) and by 82% in Boys 6-11 (149,000 vs. 82,000).
  • Ranking a competitive 4th in its time period in target boy demos, “Phineas and Ferb” (Mon.-Fri., 4:30 – 5:00 p.m.) registered huge increases over year-ago time period levels in all key demos including by 43% in Boys 6-14 (130,000 vs. 91,000), by 45% in Boys 6-11 (109,000 vs. 75,000) and by 54% in Boys 9-14 (71,000 vs. 46,000).
  • In its Monday 9:00 p.m. time slot, “Aaron Stone” out-performed year-ago time period deliveries across key demos, specifically by 76% in Boys 6-14 (146,000 vs. 83,000), by 49% in Boys 6-11 (106,000 vs. 71,000) and by 123% in Boys 9-14 (96,000 vs. 43,000).

Disney XD is a basic cable channel and multi-platform brand that showcases a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for Kids age 6-14, hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. Disney XD branded content spans television, online, mobile and VOD platforms. The programming includes series, movies and short-form, as well
as sports-themed programming developed with ESPN. In the U.S., Disney XD premiered on a 24-hour, advertiser supported network (formerly known as Toon Disney) that reaches over 72 million households via its basic cable affiliates.
